Three days are just right to taste the best of Ischia without rushing: the old town and the Aragonese Castle, the great thermal parks, the southern villages and the summit of Monte Epomeo. Here is a tried-and-tested itinerary, based in the heart of Ischia Porto.
01 Day 1: Ischia Porto and Ischia Ponte
Start on foot from our corso, among shops and cafés, as far as Ischia Ponte and the Aragonese Castle, which rises from the sea on an islet linked to the mainland. The castle is worth half a day, between walkways, gardens and spectacular views.
Finish with a swim at the nearby Spiaggia dei Pescatori and dinner at one of the restaurants in Ischia Ponte.
02 Day 2: thermal parks and the west coast
Give the second day to wellbeing, in the great thermal parks: Negombo, in the bay of San Montano, or the Poseidon Gardens at Citara, both on the west coast. Thermal pools, sea and gardens for a full day of relaxation.
At sunset, move to Forio for the view from the church of Soccorso.
03 Day 3: the south and Monte Epomeo
On the last day head south: the car-free fishing village of Sant'Angelo and the long Spiaggia dei Maronti. Those with good legs can climb Monte Epomeo, the island's peak, for a 360-degree view.
Lovers of natural hot springs can end in style at the bay of Sorgeto, where hot water bubbles up among the rocks.
04 Getting around in three days
For an itinerary like this you do not need a car: EAV buses connect Ischia Porto with Forio, the south and the thermal parks, taxis are always available, and taxi-boats reach the coves. From our central base you set off and return easily each evening.
